What is a good exercise program for a teenage guy?

chronic-what-cles of narnia asked:

I’m a lanky 16 year old guy. I’m not in great shape, I run a 7 minute mile, which isn’t pathetic but isn’t good. I have no muscle. I have kind of bad posture and a few years ago a Physical Therapist gave me exercises to do (kneck stretch, shoulderblade stretch, rubber band pull, toe touch) to correct it. I’ve only been doing those every once in a while. My school schedule is very demanding (most days I wake up at 7 and study until midnight). I can only exercise at 6AM, but that means only getting 6 hours of sleep. Is that a healthy sacrifice to make? Assuming it is, I need to figure out which exercises to do. I must do posture exercises, aside from that I’d like to add muscle so I don’t look and feel so lanky, so I can gain confidence, look good, and be stronger. At the end, I should run for 15 minutes. What exercises can I do in 30 minutes to reach my fitness goals? I own dumbells and a rubber band. Also, when should I eat breakfast?

What is the average nutritional value of an average person per 100g?

Douwe de Gier asked:

I’m not some sick guy wondering if he’ll gain weight eating his family, I want to know ’cause I’m going to tattoo a nutrional value table on my chest. So please answer seriously if you know anything about this.
for a processed (!) piece of pork it would look a bit like this: energy= 508kJ protein=22g fat=3,6g carbohydrates= 0g.

this would be unlikely to be correct in a complete body because of bones and such…. Also….. I’m willing to admit I don’t have 3.6 percent bodyfat, so that value would have to be higher. Thanx guys.

Does orange skin have any nutritional value?

San asked:

I have a friend who told me that after peeling any orange’s outer skin, that you shouldn’t sit there and pick off all the remaining skin strands because they contain fiber and are healthy for you.

Is this true? What nutritional value does an orange have? Where is that nutrition actually on the orange?

thebiglamer asked:

I’ve been hitting a heavy bag, speed bag, shadow boxing for about 3 months now. Last week I got some punch mitts, and a friend of mine has been helping me train.

My question is, what are some good training drills with the punch mitts? Should I be doing 3 minute rounds like I do on the heavy bag? If so, how many rounds? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Is there a good way to gain weight but still have a cardio workout?

cardio workout
David asked:

Okay, so here’s my predicament:

I’ve been doing resistance training for a while now and am a naturally skinny person. I bulked up from 125 to about 135. I really need to add cardio to my fitness routine but I’m worried that I’ll lose the weight that I’ve gained. So is there any way for me to keep gaining weight (or at least maintain my weight) without taking in an exorbitant amount of calories?

chasvanblom asked:

Are the nutritional values in foods still is “potent” today as they were back in the 1960’s?
…..I am wondering if the fresh fruits / veggies I buy at my local markets or Wally World still contain all the vitamins that they once were credited for having back in the 1960’s. Do I have to eat more of them to get the same nutritional “value”?

How does the undercard work in a boxing match?

CuriousGeorge asked:

I am going to my first boxing match, and I have no idea how it works. If I bought tickets for the main event do I get to watch the undercard fights as well? If the fight is said to start at 6:30 does that mean that the undercards start at that time or the main event starts at that time? I greatly appreciate your input.

Weight gain with inches lost on a diet and exercise program?

Ferret asked:

My wife is on a diet and exercise program. Simple calorie counting along with daily exercise. This week she did Pilates four days and walked until fully out of breath on one.

When she measured today she was down or equal inches in all areas. Overall she was down almost two inches.

Yet between her doctor’s visit on Tuesday and this evening, she’s up five pounds!? It just doesn’t make sense. Her thighs are a bit swolen due to her period time coming up…could the water gain account for five pounds in four days?
